Hello Everyone,
Last Sunday we concluded our Comeback King series examining a conversation between Moses and God. After being raised as a prince of Egypt and enjoying Pharaoh’s home as his own, Moses gave that up and found himself living a new life in the land of Midian. Moses settled into his new life, getting married, and starting a family – when after 40 years of this he found out that God was not done with him. God calls Moses out of his setback and into a life of purpose, prompting Moses to protest and plead with God to understand why Moses should be useless to His plan. God answers every one of Moses’ questions and concerns, giving Moses principle truths to stand on:
- God ensured Moses that He would be with him every step he took.
- God revealed Himself as I AM, declaring His unlimited potential in any situation.
- God invited Moses to release what was in his hand and to see what God could do with even a simple shepherd’s staff.
- God explained to Moses that instead of focusing on his handicaps, he should focus on God’s power. Instead of focusing on his shortcomings, he should focus on God’s strength.
Moses accepted the call. He had no idea what he was getting into and all of the amazing signs and wonders he would be a part of. All he said yes to at that moment was making one step toward Egypt for God. That’s the beginning of every journey the Lord invites us on – a first step. There is nothing in your past that God cannot use and no setback too far back. He’s not done with you yet! Take that first step!
In the message, I promised a video about Nick Vujicic – someone I consider a modern-day Moses and one of the most amazing people I have ever seen. The attached YouTube video is only 3 minutes long and I encourage you to check it out. You can learn more about Nick’s ministry at https://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/.
The entire Comeback King series is available online HERE, or on our SVC podcast HERE.

THIS SUNDAY: A New Covenant
Many people have the sincere desire to understand the Bible and to apply its truths in their lives and to walk in a new and loving way that Jesus promised we could. We long to connect with scripture in a way that bears fruit and to see the power of God in our daily lives. But sometimes we just have trouble understanding how it all goes together.
The Old and New Testaments can seem to contradict Gods character, leaving you confused about who He is and how He sees you. Join us this Sunday as Marc Potacsky helps us make sense of scripture and answer questions like:
- – Was God a bad cop in the old and a good cop in the new?
- – What part of the law was addressed to believers today?
- – What did Jesus want us to remember at the last supper?
Praise and Worship will begin at 10:30. Why not come at 10:15 to meet and greet a little before the service starts? We also have Morning Prayer and Oasis starting at 9:00, and all are welcome.

Sharing in the joys and challenges of life with other people who care for us leads to a rich experience in our journey with God. We get to practice what God is teaching us with others who will listen, challenge, and nurture us. We get to practice new skills, use our talents and gifts, and serve people in our community with others who we know and trust. Life groups are great ways to connect with others in the church as well as a way to create a comfortable environment for you to invite friends who may not be comfortable yet with showing up on a Sunday morning. Great relationships make life better and richer! Check out one of our Life Groups for yourself and experience the difference relationships make.

Life Group – Overcomer
Starting in October, this exciting ladies group will have THREE different meeting times and locations so there should be no reason to not be a part of one!
Many people feel they are less than who God says they are. We get our identity from our careers, our political positions, our roles in the family, and a number of other lesser things.
However, what is most true about us is that we are made by a God who loves us, and the gospel can bring us into a relationship with Him. When we understand who God is, we more fully understand who we are.
This small group study uses clips from the film Overcomer to examine how we determine our identity and how we can find our true identity in Christ.
Special Movie Screening Friday, October 11th 6:30pm at the Parish Center 770 Boston Post Rd, Unit 510, Guilford
Come see the movie that the Bible Study is based on, and then get in one of the groups that start as early as the next day!

Life Group – Our Riches in Christ
Coming this October – Join Marc Potocsky as he leads a life-changing, eye-opening 12-week bible study of the book of Ephesians, called, “Our riches in Christ.” This letter along with the letter to the Colossians is the pinnacle of Gods progressive revelation of the mystery of the gospel to the church given to the apostle Paul, the “Apostle of grace.” Its main theme is God’s gift to the church (you and I), which is His body and the foundational multifaceted Grace of God, establishing the believers calling, position, identity, and perfect union in Christ.
This group meets will meet Tuesday evenings starting in October. Location and exact time to follow. For more information, call Marc at 203-640-2086.

Oasis and Pre-Service PrayerEvery Sunday Morning 9:00-10:15
Do you need prayer? Do you enjoy praying for others? How about just taking a break and listening for God’s still small voice?
Every Sunday morning we have a time of prayer and what we call Oasis. We start with Oasis, which is a time of sitting at the feet of Jesus. It is a Harp and Bowl style of worship featuring musical prayer. The name is derived from Revelation 5:8, describing heavenly creatures which each had harps and held golden bowls full of incense (which are the prayers of the saints.) Harp and bowl, soaking Praise and Prayer in an intimate setting, finding rest for your soul. After Oasis we try to be more intentional about praying for our community, area churches, and the needs of our church.
Oasis and Prayer meet in the Leete room down the hall from where we have our Sunday morning service. For more information, see Marc Potocsky.

THRIVE NEEDS YOU!
Thrive is a group for junior and senior high students. An atmosphere where literally anybody and everybody can come and feel included, loved, and heard. The focus is on helping young people learn how to connect with Jesus in a deeper and more personal way. They regularly tackle some very tough topics that are current in our world today.
JJ would like to have the help of at least one adult every week so that all the needs of the group can be met. It’s easy to help – you just need to show up and be willing to interact with the youth. Please consider this important need and contact JJ if you can step up! Thank you!
THRIVE meets every Wednesday at the Parish Center located in Village Walk, in Guilford. 6:30 – 8:30. For more information contact JJ Secki at 203.645.4054.

Tithes and Offerings
At SVC we don’t have a special time in the service set aside for collecting tithes and offerings. At a table located at the entrance door, you will find a small box with a cross cutout on the top. Please place your tithes and offerings in this box. There are envelopes that will be alongside the box that will allow you to designate how you may like your gift applied, or for you to receive a giving statement for cash donations. Please feel free to add your name to your gift, or to designate it toward Tithes and offerings, Missions, or our new Building Fund.
Alternatively, if you prefer to make your contribution online, you can find a link to our PayPal on the website. There you can choose to make a one-time gift, or if it is more convenient you can set up a recurring gift. You can get to that page directly by clicking here.

Operation Christmas Child is Coming
SVC will participate in Operation Christmas Child once again this year. Since 1993 Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 168 million shoeboxes to children in over 160 countries and territories. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
The shoeboxes we prepare and collect will travel around the world to those who need them the most, and they will include the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as Savior.
Deadline for shoeboxes is Sunday, November 3rd and more information will be coming over the next weeks.

Hospitality Time Help Needed
Many of us enjoy a cup of coffee as we meet and greet with our church family. Maybe you even need a cup just to stay awake during the message! Whatever the reason, right now we are down to one or two people that come in a little bit early so that it can be ready for service. We could use some help! If you can get to church 15 minutes early and help with making the coffee, would you please see Catherine Rampone? Thank you!

God at Work
If you have something the Lord has done for you, we would love to share it with the church. Please let Pastor Chris know.
I will praise you to all my brothers; I will stand up before the congregation and testify of the wonderful things you have done. – Psalm 22:22 TLB

Got another minute?
Today, more and more people start the search for a new church family online, and the first stop is usually Google. People want to get a taste of the church from the privacy of their home before they venture out to see what it is like in person. That is part of the reason we have spent so much time making our website attractive, relevant, and up to date.
However, in addition to seeing what our website is like, people also want to hear from other people what their experience has been. They way they do this is through reviews. Shoreline Vineyard Church is on Google as well as Google Maps. If you can spare a minute, maybe you would feel comfortable sharing something about our fellowship that would help someone else who is looking for a new home church? If you click HERE you will be taken to our Google Maps page. There you can see what others have said and share your story as well. Just scroll down to where you see “WRITE A REVIEW.”
