Hi Everyone!

Labor Day comes upon us this weekend and we find ourselves already at the unofficial end of summer. It should be a time where the excitement of fall fairs, apple picking, football, and going back to school are things we look forward to. However, this year things are very different. Many businesses have opened back up, theaters are open, and schools are opening – but they are all doing so with greatly decreased numbers and with cautious concerns for the safety of all those participating.

In March, churches worldwide stopped getting together in person in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. Like many others, SVC moved online and stepped into a whole new way of doing “church”. Some have thoroughly enjoyed the format and may even be pleased to stay in this format permanently, while others are anxious to return to being able to see each other and enjoy the fellowship that happens only when we are physically together with one another.

This coming Wednesday at 7 pm you are invited to a meeting where we will discuss how we will take our next steps forward into the fall. I hope that you will try to attend as this is a meeting I would like as much input on as possible. Some of the things that I would like to discuss are:

Do we resume meeting in person now, and if so – with what precautions?
Do we discontinue the online broadcast?
Has this disruption created an opportunity to examine and redefine the format of church moving forward even after the pandemic is over.

Please bring any ideas that you have for how we can move forward or things we may be able to do differently. As well, please also understand that everyone is in a different place when it comes to what they believe about everything going on and the best way to handle things. As timing would have it, this Sunday’s message is on being merciful. I think it’s the perfect preface to our meeting. Please tune in!

Tithes and Offerings

We have three options for receiving your tithes and offering.

ONLINE – This is the easiest of options and is done through our website HERE. Alternately if you use online banking to make direct transfers, we can supply you with our routing number and account number. Please contact Chris or Bryan for that information if you need it.

MAIL – Please use a secure envelope and additionally, a piece of white paper wrapped around your check and mail to:

IN-PERSON – Finally, if you want to deliver it in person, the best way is to come to my house at 1930 Durham Rd in Guilford. Please, if you are giving cash make sure it is in an envelope and make sure I am home to receive it. We will sign the outside of the envelope together with the amount noted and I will get it to Bryan.
